Beach!

Mom can't take the heat, so dad and I hit the beach. We have the
cooler, digging toys, shade tent, sunscreen, animal crackers and
perfect weather. As it turned out, mom joined us and helped show me
how to safely stand in the surf as the waves came over my toes.

Duck Donuts

This is a local hot spot at the beach. I'm in deep concentration
considering Glazed, Cinnamin, Powdered Sugar, Chocolate, or some
custom variation.

I'm catching fish in Kitty Hawk, NC - well, at a kids playhouse...

School ---Ovoda

We have started school two weeks ago. There was lots of anticipation, some drama and now sickness. I am at my second school, the first one was a disappointment, but this one I love. I love the teachers, the children , the backyard, the gym....there is only one big problem that I am sick all the time and with me my mom and dad too. Although a new week is starting I can not go back because I have now an eye infection and I am on a bunch of medication. This is very disheartening but I am sure it will get better. The pictures were taken on my very first day when also mom got the spend with us the day. We were creating art and the children let me go first because I was the newbie. Nice, right?
PS: Grandma, last Wednesday I already left away the binky and was sitting at the table like big people, mom got compliments, now I am back to the binky with all this sickness business.

Hill Ridge Farm

On the weekend, not this one-we are all sick as it can be, I have eye infection, mom has a bad cold and dad is coughing like a dog-we went to Hill Ridge Farm. We all had a grand old time, my friend Alex was not feeling well but even he enjoyed the activities. There is so much there to do, horseback riding, playing in the corn, tubing, hay-rides, train rides, all the animals. Next time came with us!

Happy Mother's Day!

I am saluting you all my fellow moms, grandmothers! You deserve it! To see our children happy, growing healthy is the biggest accomplishment. If you don't understand or you doubt what I am talking about you are not a mom yet. :-) Hike the Inca trail, run a marathon, pass a math exam, start a new job etc. are nothing compered to being a mom day after day, every day, 24/7 no vacation days or holidays. So, my family and I took this weekend to slow down and really enjoy each others company to smell the roses. I hope you did it too.
----Lorent's mom---

The pictures were taken by our friend, Becky who is starting a new photography job. I am sure she will be very successful, just look at these gorgeous pictures about us. If you would like to have some pictures taken, she would be happy to do it, she understands very well little babies and children and has great creativity.

Finishing 15 months

It is crazy to think about the fact that I will never be 15 months old again. That was it. Probably mom is really happy about it, because she has had a lot of hair [pulled or fallen] out this month and even more had turned gray!

It was a super busy, always go-go month with lots of sickness. Unfortunately, I had an ear infection at the beginning of the month and now I have it again. Meaning, I hardly can sleep, had a fever and cried a lot. Hopefully my new med will help me soon because I like the swimming lessons and do not want to miss them.

We went to the Hungarian Easter Camp and both mornings my friends and I were riding the horses. That was amazing! I also loved feeding the horses with carrots.

I have learned to use the spoon properly, I love to eat -everything- now with a spoon. Oatmeal, grits, apple sauce, pasta, any "fozelek - vegetable stew", rice with veggies ....I am just putting them into my mouth with the spoon. I love the purple or the orange colored spoons. :)

The biggest news this month is the school. It was not easy, there was some drama involved, but now we love the one I go to.

The saddest story of this month that my BFF, Tatiana is taking care of an other family from now on. I will still see her, just not every week.

The funniest story of this month when I walked myself to the park and couple of days later I walked again and even took a short cut. Unbelievable!

What can I do next?

What can I do next?

This is something that m parents wrote up for an assignment from one of the pre-schools.

As my toddler hits 16 months, finding the words to describe him for his teachers isn't easy...

He is very like "Christopher Columbus" - exploring for the sake of exploring. Going where no kid has gone before.

He's the last to burst out in tears when you tell him "no" firmly - because he knows soon after that he will find something else that interests him.

He's likely to put on the biggest 8 tooth grin and giggle with a bit of "peek-a-boo". He can engage and relax around adults, but would

rather be with kids; Or animals; He's the first to reach out and pet or feed a carrot to dog / cat / rabid raccoon / horse / sheep / turtle / stingray. Other kids have run, cried and screamed near these animals while Lorent will reach out with one hand while holding on to a leg of Mom or Dad.

Around the neighborhood, he would rather play lacrosse / hockey / soccer / digging in dirt with Jackson, the 11 year old boy across the street than drawing in the driveway with chalk, riding the wagon or dancing with the 9 and 11 year old girls next door. I've never seen him really engage and play with little Will down the street who is 4 months younger, but he does observe babies. He will wonder why that baby is crying but will not cry himself because that baby is crying.

At Gymboree class, he's likely to leave the circle and walk toward the office and go through the trash. He's also the one that is jumping on the swinging bridge. He's been to Gymboree class enough to know that he has a bit to learn on the co-ordination and that he does fall down a bit more than Alex or Margo.

Lorent would rather be outside -- he will bring you your shoes if it will hurry things up a bit. Once you are outside, those shoes better be running shoes, as he's in his element and happy as it gets. It's also a good thing he's only ~25 pounds, because we can pick him up to bring him inside. If there were "rain-or-shine outdoor pre-school" we would enroll Lorent. He's the first one to spot a dog / horse / cow / cat 400 meters away and call it a "GOW!".

Despite his parents love for books and reading, he's not likely to snuggle up and read any type of book. He's happy that you read a book, but he'll be multi-tasking on his plastic blackberry or dragging the broom around.

He's more likely to bounce his head and feet to the music of Lady Gaga or Nightwish than a Disney soundtrack.

He's likely to be the first one awake, but might go back down with a drink and a new NukNuk.

Like his dad, he's a bit independent, sometimes to his detriment. Like his mom, he is stubborn, sometimes to his detriment.

Like his dad, Lorent listens and responds to English; Like his Mom, Lorent listens and responds to Hungarian. Being bilingual may slow his verbal and written language skills, but not his intellect – he responds to others in either language too, even southern accents.

He's likely to turn something upside down and then put some if it back, if not in it's proper place, somewhere where he thinks it should be.

He's not the calm, peaceful, quiet, cute, adorable baby that can sit with a new toy for 10 minutes and play while mom takes a pee. He is the busy, motivated, curious, non-stop, climbing, opening, closing, spoon holding, binky sucking 16 month old that is into something [bad] while mom pees. He is also the calm, peaceful, quite, cute, adorable baby when he sleeps. Fortunately, he sleeps from 8pm to 6am and now is down to one nap a day - from about 1 to 2pm or 1 to 330pm at the latest - and it's just enough for his mom and a two day a week nanny to recharge.

If Lorent wants to be picked up, since Dad is taller, he would rather go with Dad. Lorent will stay there for a long time and might protest about being put down, unless it is to go to something 'better'.

If Lorent is hurt, Mom is more likely to meet the needs of Lorent, and it usually isn't long before he's back in the game.

MY BFF: Tatiana

I was 8 weeks old when I have met Tatiana for the first time. She walked into our life shyly but quickly won our hearts. She became part of our family. They were many, many days when she was the only one to be able to calm me down, or had the energy to be patient with me. She thought me many things and most importantly she did teach also my mom to believe in herself and with that to became a much calmer, better mom. How many times we were laughing so hard and loud that my dad could not work.
Tatiana is the best, I LOVE her.

She is going to help from now on at a new family but we are not saying good bye to her, we just say : So long our friend, we catch up with you soon!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything!

My friend and I

My friend, Alex came over yesterday. We went park hopping in order to find some shades, it is so hot and humid our moms hardly can take it. We are fine, we hardly pay attention to small details like that.

15 month appointment

My weight has not changed since I have turned one year old. I am 23 pounds, almost 24. :-) With that I belong to the 40% category.

I have grown a lot. I am 33.3inches, 84 cm belonging to the 95%. That is something!

I got my shot and I have to say I was very brave.

Dr. Foster told mom that I need to eat high calorie food, like chocolate pudding or shakes. I think mom will disagree but she has a new food book so I can see different delicious food coming soon. Other then that I am FINE. :-) My ear infection has cleared out, I truly hated the yucky taste of the medicine. I had fever for over a week, my mood is so much better now that I am back to normal.

Oh, they gave me a sticker too! Only brave and well behaved children get stickers. :-)

Lorent 14 month--CLICK ON THE PHOTO FOR MORE PICTURES

I can not believe that I have finished being 14 month old! "I have grown so much"- according to everybody. :-)

March 9th was an important date in my life, I was done with the two nap system and since then I am only taking one nap a day. It is great for me, I have more time to play and be super active but I think my mom is missing the extra time to recuperate.

March 10th I said for the first time: "Oh-Oh" and since then I love the sound so I keep saying it often, specially when I drop my spoons, which is a lot.

March 25-29th we went for a mini family vacation to the Outer Banks and we all loved it, other future trips are coming.

This month and the previous I was struggling a lot every night to stay in sleep, poor mom was up with me, usually between 3:00-5:00 am and the next day she walked around like a zombie. Nobody knows why I am not able to sleep through the night, I am also just trying my best. I am sure by the time I get to be a teenager I will be really good at it.

I keep continuing eating very well and independently. I love all the veggies, from the carrots to the heart of palms to the peas. This least one is not on my dad's list, he can't stand the smell of it. I like it though! At one of the local delis we can buy coco puff bread and if my parents put hummus or cream cheese on it I can it many slices. When I eat I always hold one or two spoons in my hand because I am practicing how to hold it. When we go to the YMCA I am definitely taking a spoon with me and just holding on to it, it gives me security. Usually people think it is funny but I am serious about it.

I love the outside. My parents need to keep a watchful eye on me and lock the doors all the time, I am escape artist. One day my mom was washing the dishes in the kitchen, she heard a noise, sounded like a door being opened and I was already out on the porch ready to continue to the street. Her gut feeling told her to check on me and this is how she got me at the right time. Lucky me!

I love people and animals. I feel very lucky to have all the friends and their parents. Everybody is very kind and nice to me. My friends are from all age group, some are younger, some from the same age as me and many of them are older then I. Mom always tells me that I need to have lots of good friends because I will not have siblings. I am not so sure what this means but being nice can not hurt, I am happy to follow her request.

I feel the best when I am with my parents and with my doggy, Ocean. We lough so hard and they try anything and everything to make me lough out loud. My dad usually is the one giving me the baths at night. He came up with the idea that when we go up on the staircase we should look back and trough things down. It can be binkies or little puppet animals, the main thing that it makes a noise when it hits the ground. When it does I make my sound: Oh-Oh! It is very funny.

It was a great month for us, I am looking forward seeing what the next month brings.

Unbelievable!

It is a family story that when my dad was about 2 years old, he walked himself down to the store to get something (probably diet coke!) and his oldest brother, Terry who just happened to play there, found him.

Tonight I have created my own story, my parents did not wanted to believe their eyes. I was outside playing with Jackson and mom and all of sudden I felt the urge to go to the playground. I just went and went, did not stop, did not waver. They called my name, I turned but kept going. I knew they will come. :-)
So, I walked to the street corner, turned left, reached the other corner, crossed the road, walked to the corner, turned left, stopped for Barkley the dog, continued and arrived to the park.

Mom and dad still can not believe I did that but we have Jackson, my friend as an eyewitness. Ask him if you don't believe me but it has happened!

Outer Banks--CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO SEE MORE PICTURES

The three families have picked one of the coldest weekend to rent a house and spend a long, long weekend at Outer Banks. The last time I have been at Outer Banks, in Corolla I was in my mom's belly and I was about 5 weeks old. Now, we went to Kitty Hawk and I am 14 month old. What a difference!
I truly liked the house we rented, all the steps and staircases provided endless fun for me climbing up and down . Once, I even rolled down the steps and both my mom and dad run to me instantly, mom running out wet from under the shower.
My friends, Matyi and Zsombi were great buddies too, although we like to do our own things we can also enjoy each others company. They are about a year older and for me to imitate what they are doing, ruin what they are building or just simply pull away what they have in their hands is interesting. I am not being mean, I am just so interested what others are doing.
They tell me all the time that I am busy bee. What do they mean by that? I am not buzzing around, I just check and recheck everything and anything. It is FUN, people you should try it too!
We celebrated Judit neni's birthday, I loved her cakes. There is this new cupcake store in my neighborhood, we picked up an assortment , they were so yummy. They hardly ever let me eat cake or drink juice but if I get to it I eat and drink it all. Happy birthday Judit neni!
The Aquarium was great, it was rainy, cold and wet it was the perfect first time to see all the swimming fish. I was even able to touch some rays. They were very rubbery, I am not sure yet how to feel about them.
All in all it was a great weekend, I was definitely at my best behavior on the car rides, I am hoping my parents will take me on many more trips.
VIVA Outer Banks!

At the NC Acquarium in Manteo, NC

Dad doesnt know the difference between a Pagrus pagrus (red porgy) or a Epinephelus nigritus (warsaw grouper) or a Ocyurus chrysurus (yellowtail snapper) so here I help explain the differences on these species, including taxonomy, description, habitat, distribution, life history, population biology.  I'm pointing out the difference between the caudal fin and anal fin on this fish.  It was on a Baby Einstein video I watched.  (For example, did you know the yellowtail snapper can be up to 33 inches, 9 pounds and live up to 14 years.)

The NC Marionette Theater

While at the beach last weekend, Tibor and Judit (my friend Zsombor's Dad and Mom) know the great family that runs the The NC Marionette Theater ... and we were invited to a dress rehearsal.  Here I am watching one of the scenes.  It's really fascinating how these puppets come to life!

My Chair

Here I am in my chair...  I have my Drink, My Shovel, the Remote Control... I'm ready to watch CSI, NCIS and Whale Wars!
