Walnuts

Yesterday, we went to Gabor and Julia’s house on the Buda side.  They have two boys, Balint and Marci.  They have a Walnut tree… and a bunch of other stuff to see including a fox that comes by every night.  Here I show dad what a walnut looks like when it comes off the tree.  He didn’t know.  He thought walnuts come from the store. I taught him to put these in a cool dry place for several weeks and then open them and eat the nut inside. 

Tihany / Balaton

Two days ago we visited Lake Balaton to pick up my bike, as it was too big to fit in the car a week ago.  So we went back. We took the long way home.  Took the ferry across the lake and went to Tihany.  Ate ice cream at Mom’s favorite place, went to the echo area, and walked around.

 

 

Ancient Volcanos

We had to return to the rental house at Lake Balaton to pick up my bike.  It would not fit in the car with the rest of our stuff.  Here I am getting some last minute bike riding in before heading back to Budapest.  In the background, you can see on the north side of the lake, the extinct volcano remnants that were last active several million years ago, when the area of present day Hungary was covered by a shallow sea, known as the Pannon Sea. These hills, now covered with grapes for wines, were volcanic islands of that sea.

For 3 days we had winds and storms and some boats sunk. Here is one.

More Flying

Bogi is Mom's friend since school. She married Sly. Sly fly's planes
and helicopters. Today Sly took mom, dad and I for a plane ride. It
was relaxing and very cool I saw Budapest from the sky.

Swimming the entire lenght of the pool

My parents are so proud of me! I am not really sure why, it was just a goal of mine, to swim the length of the pool so I can be part of the Bedford Sharks next year. It has it's perks,You earn an orange colored band that allows you to go down on the water slide. Now I can go on the water slide by myself. :-) I only did it once, came down face forward. It was super quick, super fun.

Camping at Jordan Lake

Two weeks before the actual camping time I was packed in both of my backpacks and ready  to go for 10 days of camping. Mom had to tell me every day how many days are left from the countdown, it was hard to await for the real day! Finally after 8 hours of packing my parents picked me up from day care and we were ready to go to Jordan Lake, to the group camping spot # 1. Perfect spot, for the tents, for cook out and for kayaking on the lake. We had our own little bay, the weather was in game with us, not too warm, not too sunny either so everything was set.

My favorite activities were:
*Playing with all the children who came, Peti, Matyi, Zsombor, Sammy, Mathew, Marci, Benni, Julia and Anna --the twins, Alex and Albi
* Gathering fire wood in the forest
* Eating palacsinta and Gulyas soup in the middle of the forest
* Making Fire at nights and making Marsh-mellows
* Creating our own game, looking for symbols on the wood trunks
* Sleeping in the tent
* I even liked the pouring rain the last day, my parents had to clean everything out in the rain, that was fun , or not.

New Hope Valley Train

We went to the New Hope Valley Train Station & AntiqueMuseum and this old calendar was hanging up there. Mom was born back then!!

Raleigh Fire Truck Parade

Today was the Raleigh Fire Truck Parade. Dad told me it uses to be a "Fireman Parade" but girls can be firefighters too!

Marbles Museum in Raleigh

They have a tool workshop area for kids and I made this thing (sawed the wood, drilled pilot holes for the wood screws and then added the blocks of wood ) and here I am painting it.

Just another day in the neighborhood. I was home yesterday and today "sick" with an earache. Here I am after dad took me to the pediatric doctor this morning.
Mom said this is my 5th set of clothes today.

Tree Climbing

This was a tiny tree when I was little, now it's big enough to climb!

Catchin' not fish'n .

We hiked in to a nice shady spot on Falls Lake to spend some time relaxing by the water. Cheese for bait wasn't working, so dad put a beetle on a hook and this little guy came up right away!

We went to Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point to watch an airshow.  They had displays out and I like this one.  It's a .50 cal weapon mounted on a Small Unit Riverine Craft (SURC).

They also had a USCG C-130.
